About Our Founder:

Michael De La Garza began MDLG & Associates, a professional strategic public affairs and marketing communications consulting firm, in 2002. He recently completed a one-year assignment as the Director of Client Services for Creative Civilization, a San Antonio based advertising firm. De La Garza has served as Sr. Vice President of Marketing, Advertising, and Public Affairs for Laredo National Bank. For fifteen years prior, De La Garza acted as Vice President of Public Affairs and Corporate Communications for H-E-B Grocery Company, the 12th largest grocer in the United States. While serving H-E-B, he developed a reputation as an exemplary public affairs prossional, exhibiting a high concern and deep level of involvement in the community.

After he received a four-year scholarship to Harvard University, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government in 1982 and received his Master of Arts Degree in Urban Studies from Trinity University in 1989. A native San Antonian, De La Garza is a seasoned public relations and marketing practitioner. He carries extensive corporate experience in developing and executing community outreach and marketing programs designed to influence targeted audience towards a preferred action or attitude. De La Garza is a strategic thinker who extends his talents as a facilitator and consensus builder. De La Garza is an involved and committed San Antonio civic leader who strives to make his community a better place to work and live.

De La Garza has served in a number of leadership capacities as a volunteer for a myriad of organizations, including chairmanship of the San Antonio Education Partnership, as well as head of the Alamo Workforce Development Board. In 2000, Philanthropy World magazine honored him as a Texas Honoree for his work with Texas non-profit organizations. He was also recently chosen as a participant in the 2006/2007 United Way of San Antonio Masters Leadership Program.
